About the location:
Nestled on a private island in Jinji Lake, Four Seasons Hotel Suzhou emerges as a tranquil oasis embraced by lush gardens and sparkling waters. As an urban resort, it stands just steps from the city’s core—yet within its bounds lies a tranquil sanctuary, where the hustle of downtown softens into serene privacy. The Hotel features 199 guest rooms and suites complemented by 11 standalone villas, providing an idyllic sanctuary for family gatherings, romantic getaways, or business stays.

About the role:
Purchasing Supervisor ensures purchasing policy compliance, sources Engineering, Rooms, and Beverage supplies, secures competitive pricing through bidding and surveys, evaluates suppliers, monitors deliveries, negotiates contracts, and manages & trains users on the BirchStreet system.

What you will do:
Ensure all local and corporate policies, rules, internal controls and procedures and safeguards as they relate to the Purchasing Department are complied with.
Work with departments who request any supplies for hotel operation, mainly on Engineering  maintenance, Rooms supplies, etc.
Complete monthly, quarterly, annually close bidding of hotel supplies for pricing update.Obtain competitive prices from different suppliers for comparison to meet the purchase needs from user departments.
Maintain a good level of pricing on hotel supplies, mainly Engineering maintenance, Rooms supplies, Beverage etc
Verify the qualifications of any new suppliers as well as the products quality.
Identify and develop reliable sources of supplies and optimize the logistics and delivery.Assist on Receiving to monitor the delivery practice of suppliers, coordinate with suppliers when necessary and complete supplier annual review.
Monitor the delivery of any approved orders from suppliers and chase for the delayed deliveries.
Participates in negotiations for any type of purchasing contracts.
Launch market survey for food items of high consumption volume regularly and advise related departments for any market fluctuations on pricing.
Assist the Director of Purchasing on PWT and hygiene/food safety related issues with all food suppliers.
Maintain the Purchasing system – BirchStreet functional for hotel operation use. Create item code for ordering.
Master the BirchStreet system and solve the system issues when necessary.

What you bring:

College degree preferably specializing in hotel/restaurant management or equivalent experience is required.
One to two years previous experience in a supervisory position in Purchasing.
Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
Mandarin Speaking and Work authorization in China is a must.
